ESCO officially launched the project 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐕𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡, 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐚 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐜𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢-𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐬", with the support of the 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐚 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 (𝐂𝐅𝐋𝐈).
The Project Orientation was held from 𝟗.𝟎𝟎 𝐚.𝐦. 𝐭𝐨 𝟏𝟐.𝟎𝟎 𝐧𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐥𝐝 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐭 (𝐊𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢), 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐚.
The event was attended by 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉.𝐒. 𝐀𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐫𝐚𝐣, 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭/𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐆. 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐧, 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲, District Director of Planning, District NGO Coordinator, Foreign Development Officers, Divisional Secretaries and Additional Divisional Secretaries from the target DS Divisions, Deputy Director of Planning (Vaharai), District Youth Service Officer, Women Development Officers, Assistant Directors, and Grama Niladhari representatives.
The orientation introduced the project's goal, objectives, implementation plan, and the roles of stakeholders. Participants discussed strengthening district coordination, promoting safe migration, preventing human trafficking, and enhancing community-based protection and referral mechanisms across the six target DS Divisions. The project includes stakeholder forums, frontline officer training, community awareness campaigns, migrant leader capacity building, and a district monitoring and learning system.
